I am doing NaNoWriMo for the first time, and totally enjoying the experience. I agree with all that Darren said. I think people just have to be very clear about what their goal is for the month, and keep it realistic.

This is my second official NaNo (played along another year but never signed up). I’m determined to get to the 50,000 mark this time. Your first two points are key for me: keeping that word count foremost in my mind and constantly telling myself this is only a first draft.

Great points, Darren. Thank you. I really need to remember this is supposed to be fun. Somewhere along the way I transitioned away from fun and made writing work. I’m now on a quest to rediscover that fun and NaNo done right is a great way to do it. Thanks for sharing!
