I’m having the worst time revising my WIP right now, especially as I’m also doing a big paid writing project which is sucking up my energy. But I’m learning that this is something I have to be patient with. Only this morning I got a sudden insight about how to handle my (serious) backstory problem, and a new enthusiasm for all the rewriting I need to do. If nothing else, I’m learning a ton about how to craft a story, and that will be very handy for future WIPs. You’re also in a valuable learning process that will make you a better writer – appreciate it!

Your master’s course sounds like a lot of fun, although you’re really going to have to put your life on hold to read all those books (what a great excuse for curling up in an armchair with some chocolate!)

Sounds like this semester is going to overshadow your personal writing a lot. Try not to feel guilty about not finishing the romance; just throw yourself into the degree and when you come out the other end finishing should be a piece of cake, right?

Jane, I know how you feel. When I had a writing business, I could hardly get any good energy going in my fiction. Glad you’re finding patience with it all.

Shonna, thanks for the pep talk. I’ve already done one writing assignment today and I’m about ready to go back and do a second one. Even if I’m not working on my book, I’m still thinking about it when I’m doing the other assignments, so like Jane, I just have to be patient with slower speed, put myself in a lower gear to make it up this hill. :)
